Advocacy is one of WHALE’s most important on-going activities. WHALE advocates for historically and architecturally significant properties in several ways:
- Advocating for demolition as a last resort for historic properties
- Nominating important, historically and/or architecturally significant resources to the statewide 10 Most Endangered List
- 2006: Schooner Ernestina nominated to Ten Most Endangered List
- 2005: Fairhaven Mills nominated to Ten Most Endangered List
- 1999: Corson Building Complex
- Promoting and supporting strong Demolition Delay By-Laws
- Advocating for appropriate restoration of historic buildings
- Promoting the value and reuse of historic buildings and resources
