Summer AHA! Programs

August 13, 4:30 – 6:30 – “Not Just Anywhere Tours”  part of AHA! Night Summer in the Seaport.  Join WHALE staff for a 45 minute tour of the waterfront district, highlighting history, preservation and the things that make New Bedford “not just anywhere”. Tours leave Custom House Square at 4:30 and 5:30 pm. 

WHALE Summer Pop-Up’s!

Staff will hold “summer office hours”  at the New Bedford public library branches throughout the summer. Come see us to chat, ask questions, learn about our programs, projects or share your thoughts and ideas.  All pop-ups are 1-3 pm. 

July 9 – Main Library, 613 Pleasant St.,

July 23 – Howland-Green Branch, 3 W. Rodney French Blvd.

August 6 – Wilks Branch, 1911 Acushnet Ave.

August 20– Lawler Branch, 745 Rockdale Ave.

December 13, 12:00 – 4:00 pm WHALE Holiday House Tour (Rain/Snow date: Sunday, December 20, 12–4 pm)

Step inside New Bedford’s history this holiday season! WHALE’s inaugural Holiday House Tour invites you on a self-guided walk through a handful of privately owned historic homes, each dressed in seasonal splendor for the occasion. Along the way, learn about the architecture, history, and character that make these houses — and this city — special.

Proceeds support WHALE’s mission of historic preservation and community revitalization across New Bedford.

Tickets go on sale September 13 ($30 each). Stay tuned for more details!
