Join us for WHALE’s 2026 Annual Meeting & Preservation Awards as we reflect another year of preservation, revitalization and community. This annual gathering brings togethery members, supporters, friends, colleagues and local leaders.
This year we will celebrate at the historic Zeiterion Theatre, 684 Purchase Street in downtown New Bedford.
Doors open at 5:00 PM for hors d’oeuvres from Farm & Coast Market and a cash bar.
The program begins at 5:30, leading with WHALE’s annual business meeting and followed by our 2026 Preservation Awards.
We hope you’ll join us for this special evening honoring the people and places shaping the future of preservation in our community.
June 30: “Slice of History Civics Fair” at the Rotch-Jones-Duff House Museum & Gardens, 4:30 – 8:30 PM.
WHALE is excited to participate in the RJD’s first civic’s fair!
Calling all teens, young adults, families, and anyone looking to get involved with their community! Participating organizations like Elect Southcoast, PACE, YWCA, Youth Opportunities Unlimited, NB Historical Society, and others will provide community driven initiatives and opportunities for you to engage with. Enjoy a speaking program as well as free pizza (while supplies last!).
This event is a part of Civic Season, an annual tradition pioneered by the organization Made By Us set during the time between Juneteenth and The Fourth of July. Learn more about Civic Season here.

Staff will hold “summer office hours” at the New Bedford public library branches throughout the summer. Come see us to chat, ask questions, learn about our programs, projects or share your thoughts and ideas. All pop-ups are 1-3 pm.

September: The WHALE of a Time to Bid Auction – A hybrid auction, featuring online and in person opportunities to bid on amazing items and experiences in support of our mission based work. More details to come!
September 27, 2026: The Johnny Cake Hill Wine Festival – More details to come on this second year of the festival that will feature the live portion of WHALE’s auction.
