The WHALE auction at the Johnny Cake Hill Wine Festival on October 5 was a success! After nearly 10 years, we were excited to bring back the auction which has been an important fundraiser for us since 1977.
With over 50 items there was a lot to choose from! Our winning bidders took home everything from vintage drafting sets, gift certificates for local restaurants, tickets to the New Bedford Symphony and Your Theatre, Inc., to a chef lead cooking lesson and wine pairing for 4, books, jewelry, museum memberships and of course, wine. We are grateful to all who donated items and those who bid.
And the weather could not have been more perfect!
WHALE also received 10% of ticket sales to the wine festival, which was organized by the Johnny Cake Hill Wine Club (Coastal Bubbles + Wine Bar and The Drawing Room). Attendees sampled wine from local vineyards and browed local artisans as well. Admission to the Seamen’s Bethel was included too, thanks to our friends at the New Bedford Port Society. It was exciting to be a part of what we hope will be an annual community event.
